Spectress & Sabanion #6 Pre-Launch Page is READY!

It’s been a long time coming, but art has commenced! I’ve set up and activated the Pre-launch page on Kickstarter. Click the link and then hit the Notify Me On Launch button to get signed up!

Feel free to forward this to anyone you think might want to take the dive into the magic, murk, and mayhem of Spectress & Sabanion. Thank you!!!

The Process

For me, the art process is definitely the most exciting thing about making comics. The interior artist, Topper Helmers, roughs out the page art based on the script. I review the page, make suggestions or give approval, and then he moves on to the pencils. Probably pretty standard for writer/artist teams. How do those lucky bastards who can both write and draw do it, I wonder? Anyway, here are rough pages 1 and 2:

What’s Next?

We keep pushing forward on the art and Wesley Wong starts to work his color magic. Really can’t wait to see how this turns out. It’s the culmination of an epic story… a ghost trying to find purpose and redemption after her failure centuries ago. A demon on the run, an engine of destruction that’s terrified of the punishment that awaits him. The bloody events of this first story arc have thrust them into the realm of the living. Will they adapt and integrate or bring sorrow and destruction in their wake?

Oh… Mog Park’s tarot card cover is still incoming. Can’t wait to see it!

Comics I’m Reading

Was intending to make this a quick update, but since I’m here… let’s talk some more comics!

I’ve been setting aside more time to do some reading, working on that stack that keeps mocking me! Anyway, here’s what’s cool IMHO:

  • Punisher - Red Band: This one is written by Ben Percy (one of my faves) and drawn gruesomely by Julius Ohta. Really liking this intense story. It has a bit of Bloodshot flavor to it.

  • Godzilla vs. Thor: Wow… gorgeous and intense. It’s been out for awhile but I only now just got to it. If it’s still sitting on the shelf at your LCBS, pick it up. An epic and mythological meeting between two gods.

  • Exquisite Corpses: This one is getting a lot of well-earned hype. It’s on Issue #9 and has already landed a movie deal so… yeah. A great premise: the wealthiest families in America each bring a killer to a small town on Halloween every 5 years. It’s “last psycho killer standing in a hapless rural town” dialed up to 11. Why didn’t I think of that?

Hope You’re Keeping Warm!

We had a water main break here. The pipe just snapped in the cold. No water for about 6 hours and now boiling our water for 3 days after the repair. Yeah… a wee bit chilly. I’m in the Midwest so we’re generally pretty prepared for this but we still get thrown for the occasional icy loop.

Thank You Again!

I couldn’t do this without you. I hope you join me for this next issue and beyond. There is more to come!!!

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Stay Cagey,

Kurt
