Cagey Updates_8: Vampires! Cover Previews! and Johnny Depp, Oh MY!
Spectress & Sabanion #6 Cover Preview, How Do You Take Your Vampires?
Welcome Ruxy Vampire 2 Backers!
Ruxy Vampire #2 was my biggest launch yet, thanks to you! It’s been a blast and I’m working dillgently on fulfillment. Going to take a few days off and get it done. Welcome to my 2nd-Wednesday of the month update! Spectress & Sabanion #6 is coming right up!
Spectress & Sabanion #6 Cover Preview
Spectress & Sabanion #6 is going to wrap up the first story arc in what I hope to be a long, epic, and macabre story. I look back to 2016 when I got started with the black & white Preview Issue and, wow… it’s been a blast! Maybe there are a few things I’d have done a little differently but that’s not something to dwell on. There are more ghosts, killers, and demons gnawing at my brain that need to be let out.
Let’s have a peek at Chris Ehnot’s cover pencils:

Spectress & Sabanion, Issue #6
Ok so, how cool is this?! Colorirst extrarodinaire, Wesley Wong, will also be working his magic on the final product. Can’t wait to see it.
But wait, THERE’S MORE!
Chris had stuff going on during production of Issue #3. We all know how that works, life happens etc. For the Issue #6 Kickstarter, we’ll be releasing a new cover for Issue #3 featuring Aneksi’s arch nemesis, The Blood Shade:

Spectress & Sabanion, Issue #3
The Issue #6 Kickstarter will feature limited edition boxed sets for the cover artists that have made the full run of covers from 1 - 6: Topper Helmers, Chris Ehnot, and Mog Park. It’s going to be SO COOL!!!
Convention Update
To be honest, conventions are not looking good. I like road trips and getting out of the house for a weekend. I work in IT full-time, so I don’t get a lot of social interaction on a daily basis so it’s always enjoyable to get out and meet people. But it’s really, really hard to get out there and sit behind a table when nothing is happening. Time is so precious.
My last show this year is Wisconsin Horror Fest. Hope you can join me there and we can shoot the breeze about comics, movies, horror, etc. After that, I’m not sure about 2026. Maybe I’ll do C2E2 if I get in but otherwise I’m taking a break from shows. Things are too uncertain right now and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Tighter scripting, better stories
What I’m Absorbing Currently
I’ve been so busy lately, there’s so much media on the plate I need to start chomping on! However, here’s what I’ve been enjoying currently:
Movies: Superman - Despite a TON of CGI, I enjoyed it. It was fun, positive, and had a great story. Really enjoyed Nicolas Hoult as Lex Luthor. That actor is EVERYWHERE right now and he deserves it. He was amazing in Nosferatu also. On my media plate: Fantastic Four, Naked Gun, Weapons, Red Sonja.
Comics: My pile of unread comics continues to scowl at me but I have gotten to a few. I’m digging the new Captain America by Chip Zdarsky and drawn by Valerio Schiti. Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe is a blast too. Also still following Hexiles, I Heart Skull Crusher, Jumpscare, and W0RLDTR33. I’m picking up The Voice Said Kill this weekend, looks cool.

News & Links
How many of you know Robert Crumb? He’s before my time and I really only know him from a documentary I saw way back in the 90s. He has a new comic coming out if you’re into weridness, neurosis, and paranoia.
One of my favorite horror movies, Sleepy Hollow, is getting a sequel. Not sure it needs one but I’ll give it a shot.
And speaking of Johnnny Depp, he has a comic book coming out w/ Ridley Scott called Hyde. It has a trailer. It’s a take on the classic story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde where the villainous side has won out.

Vampires…. How do you take them? Sexy or scary? Check out this cool video on YouTube that discusses the swings that go back and forth. Obviously, I’m a fan of sexy vampires but yeah, you gotta have the scary stuff too! I’ve heard one or two women say that Nosferatu was… um… sexy. EGAD! I guess if you’re looking for the fulcrum of sexy AND scary, that would be the one but…. yeesh!
