Cagey Updates_6: Closing In on the End

And a New Beginning! Plus, wow, LOTS OF STUFF!

Greetings, it’s June!

This update is a month late. I’m still recovering from being sick, just got a new batch of meds to put an end to the cough that’s been wracking me for weeks. Yeah… SICK since early May. The kind of sick where you think you might get some things done since you’re home but instead you sit, slack-jawed and droopy-eyed, on your couch watching the Final Destination series and trying to breathe. Your abs and ribs are sore from the cough that wracks your whole body and your dogs look at you with obvious concern.

Went to the doc yesterday and got some nuclear fusion strength meds so I hope take a decent breath sometime next week. But for now… on to more important matters!!!

Ruxy Vampire is on Indiegogo!

And… not doing so hot, heh. That’s fine, I am still incredibly delighted and thankful for the successful Kickstarter. I’ve tried doing a secondary launch on Indiegogo a couple times w/ varying success. This will be my last shot as it’s not worth it. There’s a political component that seems to go along w/ success on Indiegogo that I’m not terribly interested in (Comicsgate… you can look it up but it’s not worth the time). Politics are such shit right now anyway, why would I want to politicize comics too? NOPE! Comics are fun and they’re going to stay that way! Ghosts, demons, mystery, vampires, tough guys, tough gals, sex, action, booze, violence, suspense, cats that can order Doordash… these are a few of my favorite things!

But enough about that! Here are a few lettered panels from Ruxy #2 where… naughtiness ensues!

Cool Stuff I’m Consuming Besides Cough Syrup

Ok, so I’m a month behind but if you’re looking for something good, here’s what I’ve been checking out:

Books/Audiobooks: Wow… The Faithful Executioner is quite a story. Take a young kid whose father is forced to perform an execution by a local noble and thereby doomed to be forever ostracized by society. The kid grows up and has no choice but to follow in his father’s footsteps, but he makes a choice: to bring professionalism and respect to his shameful and gruesome trade. It’s… right up my alley, LOL!

Also check out When the Wolf Comes Home. A werewolf story that becomes something more. It’s hard to describe w/o spoiling the story so ready the link article and consider the nature of fear!

Movies: Top-notch: Black Bag, Sinners, Companion, Warfare. Not Bad: Ballerina. Ok: Thunderbolts

Streaming: Top-notch: Devil May Cry (Netflix). Not Bad: Predator Killer of Killers (Hulu)

Devil May Cry

Comics: I’ve honestly been out of the loop lately. Still loving Jumpscare by Cullen Bunn.

Spectress & Sabanion, Issue #6

Almost… there… at… EGAH! 35 pages?! That means it’s almost done and then over to James Powell for honing and sharpening. This is quite an explosive ending where… god I hate hearing/saying this… NOTHING WILL BE THE SAME AGAIN! I guess that’s easier to say as it’s only 6 issues so far and we’ve really just started. Sorn returns, Domira returns, The Blood Shade and Aneksi have their first face-to-face confrontation… two ghosts that use possession for radically different purposes and sensations. Stay tuned! Met a new cover artist at DesMoines Con, Jordan Gunderson will be joining us! Chris Ehnot will be back, and also releasing a cover for Issue #3! The Kickstarter will feature 3 separate boxed set collections of Issues 1 - 6 by Topper Helmers, Chris Ehnot, and Mog Park! Can’t wait!!

Ruxy Vampire, Issue #3

If the Gods of Inspiration, Discipline, Motivation, Time, Creativity, Focus, and Briskness shine their faces gracefully down upon me, I’ll have Ruxy #3 for you this fall as well. Pray for me.

Thanks again for reading!
